The Aged Care Industry cries out for more Workers

Following the recent Jobs and Skills summit, a newfound emphasis is being placed on the need for qualified workers in the aged care industry.  The Aged care industry was one of the hardest hit sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic due to it being an industry that has been largely propped up by migrant workers who could not enter Australia due to border restrictions.

Aged care bodies have revealed that new government requirements for staff leave the industry 60,000 staff short on a national level, 45,000 of these vacancies are for qualified aged care workers. There is now a call for the government to add aged care to the skilled migration list which could double the number of aged care workers able to enter the country and fill these vacancies.

When there are almost 60,000 vacancies in aged care right now this is something that government can do and do it quickly.
